Hi all hope the weekend is treating you well? I have been busy playing with letters and have been adding them to lots of my projects. First up and now listed in my shop is personalised crayon wallets. Next on my mind in baby quilts. Do you think anyone would be interested in buying a quilt with child's name sewn on? or do you think people prefer ready made designs?
I am thinking of adding more personalised options and am interested in hearing what you think. Good idea or not.

Pin Wheel quilt Finish

Hi all I have another recent finish to show you. This one I just could't put down and had it finished in 4 days and nights of course. I love the colours and the pinwheels or as I prefer whirlygiggs add such movement to the quilt and the white offers some eye interest, something I love about patchwork. As usual I saved a film to sew on my binding, I don't feel guilty about watching the telly then.
Now back to my pile of orders I have to get on with. Did I tell you I have some new shops on board which is super exciting but also frantic trying to keep up with larger orders.

Laminated Sewing

Hi all I have something new to share with you. My first sewing project working with laminated fabric. I have been a bit scared or working with oilcloth but had to have a go. I like to venture outside my comfort zone every now and then. Things I learned along the way. Don't pin if you can avoid it and sew slowly. Iron on the reverse.
At the end I have a totally wipeable crayon wallet, I am pretty pleased with myself. What new projects have you been working on?

Another finish round here I am on a roll. Here they are foxy trousers in medium weight denim with a little stretch. I love how the pocket turned out just gives an extra wee lift. Youngest came home and went straight up to his room and put them on without being asked so they get the thumbs up.

This Week So Far

Our school went back on Monday so although I had been kept busy over the holidays I started to get back to normal (sewing wise) this week. It is surprising how quickly I have become used to an extra hour in bed, my 6 o'clock alarm has been a real pain this week, but routine is like a favourite old jumper, good to get back to.
Over the Christmas break I have allowed myself some time to get on with some of my own sewing both works in progress and some long awaited projects I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed them and have promised myself to try and make time for more handwork in particular.

This is a foxy pocket I have been working at for the last few nights ( around 10 hours in total) for one little fox. I wanted to create texture and a raised effect to the foxes fur I think I used a whole skein of the red brown cotton but am pleased with how it turned out, now all I have to do is whip up the rest of the trousers hope they don't take 10 hours.

Nearly Rumbled

I had a close shave this afternoon. I was up last night working away on a pair of slippers We have a birthday boy next week and I had had a wee look through my stash and had everything I needed. Result - using stash, clearing space, and a super thrifty gift too boot. Anyway I was working away last night and finally finished but I had a niggle that wouldn't go away something wasn't right they were much too big ( thats what happens when you have to sew made to measure in secret, I could hardly say can I trace your feet for no reason) I went to bed feeling deflated. So this morning I adjusted my template and this afternoon while everyone was glued to a movie I started to make slippers mark 2. All at once the door burst open and next weeks birthday boy was there he had grown tired of the film and was through for a wee chat. "Whats that Mummy" he said "oh Mummies just working, why don't you go back through?" " I want to stay here with you" " what's that? is it slippers I need slippers Pleeeeease" "Mummies just working" " is it a funny hat?" "might be" and so it went on and on the whole time I am shielding his view and gently moving things. He got tired of our chat I am so boring and left. I think I got away with it. Anyway here they are on another volunteer. I have lots of feet to choose from. Why I didn't use them in the first place I don't know thats just too organised.

I am making progress with my to do list. This is my first quilt top finish of 2012. The next version will have the same pinwheels but I think I will do a different border. Hows your list doing?
In between my sewing I have been enjoying spending time with Sammy he is certainly growing and his cheeky personality is developing, can't believe he has only been with us for only 16 days. Love the little pink pads of his paws.

Quilted Slippers

I have a massive and ever growing list of projects for 2012. I think this is because I have neglected my personal sewing in favour of making for craft fairs and the shop. In the top 10 is more slippers my youngest has loved his Mummy slippers since I made them for him when he was off nursrey feeling really poorly. he has worn them everyday and night for that matter ( yes he sleeps with them on) but sadly now he is urgently needing new ones. Therefore in between quilt blocks and trousers and pillowcases and new curtains and jeans and polo shirts and more quilts I will squeeze some time for his cold little toes. What have you got on your sewing list for 2012?

Starting a New Quilt for the New Year

Well not actually 1 quilt but 2. I have promised my girls a matching set of quilts for their room. Its taken so long to find fabric that they both love. I on the other hand love love love this fabric I think it could be in my all time favourites. So after my last order for the year was complete yesterday I couldn't wait to get stuck in. Here's where I have got to so far. Its a great motivation for me at this time of year to have something so bright and cheery to work on and at the same time will keep my girls cozy.
I hope you all keep cozy this New year preferably under a handmade quilt there is just nothing to beat it unless its 2 handmade quilts.

Hello everyone hope you are all still enjoying your time off. I am looking for some help and who did I think of but my trusty blog readers. I am planning on expanding the number of shops that I sell through in 2012 and am after some suggestions from you. Is there a shop in your area that you love that might be interested ? I like the idea of independent gift shops, tea rooms, or little quirky shops you know the kind. I have more than enough shops that sell my bibs for me so I am thinking more along the lines of my crayon wallets and pencil rolls. I appreciate any pointers you can offer.

Hi everyone I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday. We enjoyed some Puppy Fun. Let me introduce Sammy. He has stripped the lower branches of the Christmas tree, chewed through our light and made countless little puddles around the house. Complete bliss. Before anyone shouts out a dog is for life and not just for Christmas don't panic we are experienced dog owners and have been looking for a puppy for ages. We are so fortunate to have him with us can't wait until he is a bit older and can enjoy some long walks.

Oh I was going to show you all some gorgeous handmade Christmas goodies as they were heading out the door to some special people in our life. But it has not been peaceful round here this week. I have been adjusting costumes and letting down hems, putting up hems, taxiing children here there and everywhere, attending concerts at school, answering emails and phone calls and emails and packing last minute orders and packing more last minute orders. So here I am what can I tell you we have made and given out this week so far. 6 loaf cakes of sticky dark gingerbread, 3 jars of orange and ginger marmalade, 36 mince pies and I have a tone of baking still to do. I thought that come this week things would have slowed down but the inevitable last minute dash has hit. The main products requests are for crayon wallets big and small along with bibs and pencil rolls. So Monday really is last and final the last absolute last day for posting in the UK. Please tell me today or tomorrow if you want something and I will do my very best for you. Now back to the oven the smell of fresh baked gingerbread is calling.

Handmade Christmas

Hi everyone. My weekend was a busy one and very festive. We put up our tree and decorated it. This year we opted for a real tree and the house smells wonderful. I have been getting some Christmas presents finished and thought I would share some with you not all sewing but all handmade. First up is a tree ornament. I wanted the design to be red and white only so that it would match in with the recipients decor. This little ornament is all of 3 inches square so you can guess how small the irish chain blocks are. My fingers are still a bit sore from the fiddleyness of it all. I hand quilted it and then added the back. I wanted a generous thickness to the square. Then I quilted a tiny feather wreath at the back. I was a little nervous about using red thread but I think it turned out fine. This tiny quilt is going to be given to a wonderful lady who is so generous with her time to my two dancing daughters that we always do a handmade gift, it's sort of giving back a little of our time. Oh I tried using wool wadding in this one I thought it very soft and lovely to hand quilt.

Hi all well we have had the first snow here and all around me looks so crisp and fresh. I have been leaving my car at home and walking as often as I can. I love to breath the cool air and look at all the twinkly leaves and branches as I pass by. Walking gives me the time to think and collect my thoughts. This year on reflection has been soo busy and full of work that it has passed by in a haze at times so these quite moments are very precious.

Made by Mum has been featured in the Country Lifestyle Scotland Magazine christmas shopping Guide. Can you believe it I was bursting to tell all for ages well now I can. I was suppose to post this in the week but lost my camera in amoung the millions of boxes I took with me to Dumfries . I found it is here you go.
Hello lovelies I am suffering from frazzled brain. I had a lovely time in Dumfries but now I am home with a massive amount of catching up to do. Orders are coming in thick and fast and I am working really hard to keep on top of things. My crayon wallets, pencil rolls and art wallets are super popular gifts for budding artists and my bamboo blankets and bibs are wonderful for first Christmas gifts. I have also had a lot of interest in my eco facial pads with many little bamboo squares heading for stockings up and down the country as well as over seas, remember they are great for taking make up off too so not just for little ones. I had better get back to it so will leave you with a couple of pics of my stand at Dumfries.

Christmas Spending

I have just been listening to a radio programme about Christmas spending. Even though the economic situation is not good people are still prioritising their children. The average spend this year is £350 per child. Deep breath I have 4 remember. I have always been a believer in a thoughtful gift rather than an expensive/pressurised buy. I put a lot of thought into each and every gift and I have to say I find it far more enjoyable and satisfying than hitting the High Street. I love to shop at Craft fairs and of course to make my own. Handmade really is a good buy for the price conscious shopper its original, excellent quality so will out last anything made in a factory and will show the recipient how much you care about them that you found them something so special.
Please support handmade this Christmas and give your bank balance a break.

Green Gallery Christmas Fair

Hello everyone I wanted to show you all the fabulous flyer that has been made up for this years Christmas Fair. Becky works so hard putting this wonderful weekend together . This year the fair is being held a little earlier on the 25th - 27th November. Friday night is ladies night enjoy some Christmas shopping with some scrummy nibbles and a glass of bubbly couldn't get much better. Christmas Shopping and Ordering

Hello all how are you? Did you enjoy the fireworks at the Weekend?
I am in the process of cranking up in anticipation of the next few weeks busy busy. I have a full line up of some fab events some new and some I have been to in the past so I have a few butterflies.
First up I am off to Dumfries next Monday and Tuesday for a lovely fair held at Easterbrook Hall its in aid of children with cancer. Then the following Monday and tuesday I am at Scone Palace for the Cancer research christmas shopping event. Then on the 26th and 27th November I will have a stall at the Green Gallery Christmas Fair in aid of Artlink Central another worthy cause and finally on the 3rd December I have 2 shows . In the Morning I will be at Madderty Christmas fair and in the Afternoon I will fly down the road to Morrison's Academy in Crieff for their Christmas fair. Quite an undertaking.
Because of all these fab shows, orders will be taking longer to get made up and my order book is very full. At the moment I am thinking the 5th December for last orders for Christmas not long at all.
Better get back to the sewing machine.

This week has been like a whirl wind each day merging into the next. I can honestly say business wise this has been my busiest week to date. I have been flat out completing orders and making replacement stock. Top this week is my creative Kids range. This is really exciting because I have been working hard on these products. I want to give children the oppertunity to be creative when ever and where ever. To take advantage of our busy schedual rather than being limited by it. And you guys are getting it. Winter Collection part 1

Hello all hope you are all wrapped up against the wind and rain. We have the log burning stove on its just so comforting working away with the gentle sound of the chimney and the occasional crackle, the smell is just wonderful.
I will be introducing some of my new winter lines over the next few days. First up 2 new crayon wallets both with funky retro elephants. These make terrific gifts for girls and boys think of the peace you will enjoy while they are busy colouring away. Take them with you while out and about. October break traveling or waiting at the doctors surgery.

New Cat in the Hat

Hi everyone the fist week of the tattie holidays is going well the weather has been on and off but during the dry spells we have been enjoying the autumn colours and smells. Kids on scooters and me walking. I have noticed a sharp up turn in orders which is lovely you guys are getting organised ( only 10 weeks to go ) So there has been lots of cutting and piecing and sewing going on too.
I wanted to show you a new fabric option I have. I have been making up some crayon wallets with it but will be making lots of other goodies with it over the next week or so. Its so bright I love the movement in it. I am sure it will be a hit at the fairs I am attending this winter I will also be adding it to my shop selection.
Back to the sewing machine now as I have a stack of orders to work my way through.

12 Weeks till Christmas

Not to panic anyone. I can't believe its the 1st of October already where did the summer go? I am still waiting on it. Maybe next year ever hopeful. So this is what my plans are for the run up to Christmas. I have some lovely shows to look forward to in November and December I decided not to do any in October to allow me to be super organised. So far I have been keeping order turnaround 1-2 days however I am already starting to feel that will slip to 2-3 days soon say next week and 3-4days the week after and so on. I expect that when I hit November what with all the shows I am doing and my international customers I will be flat out and I want to make sure that I don't have to turn anyone away. ( it did happen last year I have to sleep at some point) If you want to place on order and you know what you want please do so as soon as possible my shop has some gorgeous items many are one of a kinds. I felt terrible having to say no last Christmas.
I am getting organised myself I have already bought a couple of gifts and have a list written out it's a good feeling not to rush but consider everyone individually. I am Quite excited already.

All New Pencil Rolls

Hello all I can't believe it's Thursday already. I have been getting down to some serious sewing in preparation for Christmas shopping. I have been getting requests and some ordered from all my organised customers. So here is my newest product it's a quilted pencil roll for all those a little too grown up for crayons. I think it would make a terrific give for Christmas. Hope you like it as much as I do. Today in between making some new art wallets I managed to find some time to make these ever so cute little owl hanging decorations. I designed them on several pieces of paper and had many try outs some did not reach completion I am so picky. I thought they would look great hanging on a christmas tree. Good Morning !!!

Good morning all of you early birds isn't it great having the house to yourself all quiet and peaceful. I find that the first half hour of my day is a barometer for what's to follow. This morning for example I was unable to get my foot on the first stair when number three child was awake and wanting me to help him with something and that was at 6.15. Saturday and Friday were worse I was up and about at 5 both of those mornings and I had children up and bickering with each other by 5.35 can you imagine? Those special mornings when I do manage to sneek down stairs undetected and have half an hour to say good morning to my trusty old dog ( she is the last of our three faithful companions so I feel very close to her) open the back door and stare out into the garden breath the fresh morning air and be still. Oh those few precious moments give me a space to just be. With a house full to the brim with busy I cherish the quiet. Maybe tomorrow.

Cooling Down

The weather over the past few days has certainly been very autumnal with blustery winds and a cooling of temperatures. My monsters have been feeling the need to snuggle up at night. So I have been working on a new set of quilted hot water bottles. This one will be utilised a lot, we take them in the car when its cold as well as in bed.

12 hour Cushion

Hello all how are you today? I thought I would share my latest finish. It just makes my heart sing. For those of you who are like myself completely and truly in love with all things fabric you know what I mean. This softy took 12 hours and thats a conservative estimate but its worth every minute every finger jab and there was thousands. I fussy cut and paper pieced the centre hexagons then appliqued them onto the centre square. Gave them a mix up border and then a white outer border. I layered up with wadding and hand quilted every inch. Gave the back an envelope opening and finished off with a striking red border hand stitched of course. Hope you love it as much as I do.

After a mega busy weekend at the Dundee Flower and Food Festival you would think I would be putting my feet up. Hardly I have been working my way through a pile of custom orders taken over the weekend. Good morning peeps. How are you all? Its the Dundee Flower and Food Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Camperdown Park. Come along if you can there is so much to see and do. Giant vegetables, bee keeping, food hall cookery demos, live music and of course the all important craft tent. I will be closing my shop later on today as I will be taking all my goodies with me. Make sure if you want something in particular get it today as I can't promise to have it when I come back. So many of my pieces are one offs so don't miss out.

Snowmen Christmas Stocking

Can't believe I am saying this but I have got myself all excited about Christmas. I have been talking via email to a few organised sweeties about my christmas stockings and last night I was eager to get started and this cutie is the first in an already growing list of orders. The colours are lovely and bright and so cheery. Don't fret you know me I couldn't stop at one and made up two I have it listed in the shop if you want it. Good morning all I suppose you have noticed that I have been posting less frequently over the last couple of weeks. I am still here but up to my eyes in it. I have taken a bit of time for myself and am feeling totally up for the run up to Christmas. Oops sorry I mentioned the C word and its still August. One of the things I have noticed is a rise in custom orders. When I have been at fairs and shows people have been so surprised that a pattern can be tweeked and adjusted to suit them even better. Another plus point of handmade. So I have been getting lots more custom requests. Here are some examples.

Fayre in the Square

Hello all how are you all. I had the most brilliant day yesterday at the Fayre in the Square at Crieff. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Fayre in the Square it is the warm up day for the Crieff highland Gathering. The little square was buzzing with stalls selling soap ( I bought a few wedges my favourite is bog myrtle), cakes and fresh local produce I was not there to work but on a personal level. The sun shone and shone The Crieff High School pipe band were performing ( they were brilliant) but stealing the show were the highland dancers ( I am very bias ) we saw flings, the sword dance, Flora McDonalds fancy, Heiland Laddie and many many more exciting displays of intricate footwork well done girls you did the town proud. I spoke to people from Canada, South Africa, England and Italy all so keen to find out a bit more about our Scottish customs and traditions. Wonderful wonderful day. Makes me proud to be Scottish. My batteries are charged I had so much fun.

Oh the start of school is approaching and although I love to sew, school name labels are not my favourite thing. I have about 50 name labels to sew on as well as hems on numerous pairs of trousers. Taking waistbands in and I am still searching for grey school cardigans ( does anyone local to Perth know a shop that has them) and other uniforms. Its not like I left things too late I started in July but the shops don't seem organised themselves. On the subject of organising I am a list writer are you? I write lists for everything keeps me on track otherwise I forget. I have so many things running around up there. So what could be better for keeping all your lists and notes together but my new organiser perfect for a birthday gift or just to treat yourself. Comes complete with pockets for pad of paper, pen and vouchers, business cards, coupons etc. Its listed in my shop if your interested. And now that I can tick write blog post off my list I will get onto the next job.

Hello my lovelies, What have you been up to? as you have probably guessed from my absence I am still up to my eyes in sewing orders things are just getting busier and busier. I have been making and posting and making and posting. I have made a little time to fiddle and came up with a modified version of my art wallet. I used twistable crayola crayons and a jumbo pad of paper in this super deluxe version. It would make a fab back to school gift for your artist. Monkey Business

Yesterday was a funny day. After doing some running around in the morning our plans of going to the allotment were ruined due to the never ending rain so we settled ourselves for a creative afternoon. Everyone had a project from making a viking ship from weetabix boxes and loo rolls and several rolls of sticky tape to sewing a new bookmark from Mummies little scraps. Everyone was busy and it was lovely. I joined in by making this cute sock monkey pillowcase. Its such a fun project goes great with my sock monkey blanket. What I like best is that all the seams are completely enclosed. French seams rock. I think I may make a few for my shop they would be wonderful to take on a sleep over or hospital visit or maybe camping.

Hello my dears. It's that time of year you know BACK TO SCHOOL. Shoes, uniform, coats, pencils, pens you know shopping shopping shopping. Dragging your munchkins around the town trying on skirts and trousers seeing if there's enough growing room. With all the shopping and sewing on labels its easy to forget about what our kids will eat when they are there. This year is going to be a little different for us at Made by Mum HQ. In fact Mummy will be making packed lunches. I have been going through my recipe books and am on a mission to banish boring packed lunches. I'm back home, what a weekend I tell you I am weary. Hopetoun was the most glorious setting imaginable. I think I saw about 1% of the grounds being confined to the craft tent. But oh they are beautiful. I met some lovely stall holders and purchased a few little lovelies. It was great to see so many of my customers from previous events. My throat is a little scratchy this morning in account of me talking so much. I didn't take any pictures of my stall but I did manage to take a few of the house and where we were.

Can you imaging washing all those windows?

I was standing on the steps in the front of the house to take this picture. Can you see the jump directly in front it was much bigger than it looks in the photo and the horses were clearing it no problem. The craft tent was on the right at the far end the traditional tent.

When the public arrived the fountain was switched on it was gorgeous.

And for all you Harry Potter fans I took a couple of this owl it was part of the birds of prey display. It was enormous.

Hi everyone I am still here sorry for the lack of posts this week. I am under a pile of fabric at the moment have been all week and will be for the next couple of weeks. What's to blame? well I am preping for Hopetoun house next week and working my way through orders. Lots of lunch bags, art wallets and crayon rolls as well as some bibs. Seems like there will be lots of children very organised for their drawing lessons come the start of school.
The allotment is getting off to a good start I have managed to clear a bit and do a bit of digging. It is so peaceful and quiet that I can see myself escaping from my computer and all other distractions regularly.
Anyway got to get back to it.

Sewing Free Post Today

Hello all did you have a good weekend? The weather has been rubbish and I am particularly mindful of the weather at the moment because I got some super exciting news recently. After years and years on a waiting list I finally got offered an allotment. They are like hens teeth at the moment so I am delighted. I have some pictures of the plot, it has a little shed ( not in a great state but good to have all the same) some strawberry plants and a couple of scrawny gooseberry bushes. My plans for this year are to get it in a better state. I want 4 beds so that I can rotate what I am growing. I am going to keep the strawberries and the gooseberries. I am so new to this so if anyone has any advise please chirp up. I am also curious if it is too late in the season to grow anything?

Oh and by the way the allotment will be having an open day on Sunday the 31st July from 10am. Pop along if you are local and buy some fresh veggies, flowers and home baking. Moncrieff island Perth.

Hello all I have been busy working on my website, one of the challenges I face is that all my products are one offs or made in small numbers and so having a website that reflects this diversity has been a bit of a headache for me. So after a lot of work ( I am not finished I have a lot of goodies still to add) I have begun to revamped my shop page on my website, I am delighted that I will now be able to show more of what I make and do and so will hopefully increase my online customer base. New Crayon Wallets

Hi how are you all today. I have been busy playing post lady today. Lots of parcels to deliver. But the Sun has been shining and I had 3 helpers today so we had a great adventure. First we were pirates sneaking onto treasure island and capturing the treasure. Then we were vikings setting sail on the North Sea in our handmade long Ship and lastly we were Native Americans setting up camp. All in Perthshire on a Wednesday.
But now for something new. I wanted to introduce my new crayon wallets, compact, practical and totally fun. Terrific for holiday travel, birthdays, eating out, doctors visits or even a first day at school gift.

A Little Something for Myself

Hello all I said in a previous post that I would be finding time to do a bit of sewing for myself. I have a "to do list" that is a mile long. I suppose having a creative personality means I just want to make so many things. One of which has been on the list for a long time. Its a projects and a half and I think thats why it has been overtaken so many times, but I have made a tiny start purchased the fabrics I wanted and started to cut. I had to make one block because I can be a bit impatient. Only 80 more to go. I am not going to rush just dip in and out as I can find time. It would be good it I had it complete for Christmas. Scottish Game Fair Recap

I'm back totally exhausted and with a mountain of orders to get busy on. I had a great show, saw lots of familiar faces and many new lovely customers. Made by Mum goodies are well traveled some are on there way to South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, France, Italy and Norway and of course to all over the UK. I was delighted to spot so many little ones sporting my bibs or strap cover sets, one Mummy told me that her sister had bought the bib at last years show and that she had now passed it on to her little one. I have to say it looked just as fresh and cute as ever. Just goes to show what a great investment they are. I met a great selection on crafters my next stand neighbour Liz is a very talented potter she was very entertaining making her wears and chatting to people at the same time. I couldn't resist one of her beautiful jugs we used it this morning at breakfast I love it and will be adding to it maybe some bowls and mugs.
I am going to spend the next couple of weeks on the orders I have collected and then I have a couple of projects I want to get on with, if you need any goodies made up over the summer please get in touch.

Good morning everyone. I hope you are in fine form today. I am bleery eyed and very weary after the last 5 days efforts, but I wanted to thank you all for your support. The Highland show was a success I am delighted at how things went and how positive everyone was. I got so many compliments about my little stand and my goodies. So many returning customers from all over the UK and Ireland and some very encouraging feedback about products that had been used and used and used. Not only are they wearing well but are also loved. When most of the things we buy and use are mass produced I am glad that handmade is still appreciated for its superior quality, design and unique nature. I am finding my niche and am loving it.
I have a lot of sewing to do this week in preparation for The Scone Game Fair and a lot of washing/ironing to catch up with to.

I'm at the stage now where I have had enough of prep for my next couple of shows. I have designed and arrange my booth a thousand times. Made endless lists and had very little sleep for the last few weeks. But I am glad to say I will not be sewing tomorrow or the next day or the next and so on. Today I am finishing up some Art wallets and then I have some final prep to do, lots of running around, printing up labels etc.

Royal Highland Show Countdown Continued

Good Morning all I have more to share with you all this morning. I will be taking these bamboo goodies with me next week to the show. The red/pink combo may be a new favourite from Tuesday but will more than likely be replaced super quick. Thats the way of fabrics with me, each one is a favourite. I am soo lucky to be doing what I do surrounded by colour, pattern and creative possibilities. My Nerves are kicking in I can tell you. I have butterflies in my tummy. I am so excited about this one I just hope I do well. But let me introduce my newest bamboo baby blanket.

I have used a variety of pinks ranging from delicate peachy right through to the vibrant cherry red. Lots of stimulation and talking points for you to share with your little one as you snuggle up. Can you imagine the stories you could create at bed time about the playful puppies or the children on their scooters in the park. Timeless and enduring memories.

I also took a couple of shots of these two fun bamboo taggies. Again so tactile and educational. Little fingers can fiddle to their hearts content.

Hello all. First off thanks for all your emails I am not 100% I just think I am way over tired. Not to worry, It's Monday and I am officially on my Royal Highland Show count down. I just can't believe that I am there already the last few months have just been a blur. So I am going to try my best to show you a few lovelies that I will be taking with me. First up is my art wallet. This design has been made up with my gorgeous scooter fabric and the pockets are some cute pale blue puppy print, this extends into the handy carrying handles. I have filled it with crayola pencils instead of crayons. I hope this will appeal to a slightly older child. What do you think?

Similar But Not The Same

Hello I wanted to share with you a little story that I love. I was recently contacted by a lovely lady she was the proud new Mummy of not 1 but 2 healthy baby boys. She wanted to get them a little something and wanted it to be similar but not the exact same just like her boys. Handmade seemed the most natural option and we had a bit of a chat. Both boys also suffer from eczema so she was instantly drawn to my bamboo fabric. In the end she choose 2 organic cotton and bamboo fleece tag blankies. I was so taken with this Mummies insight that her boys were similar but not the same.

Good morning all I though I would share a little story with you. Last night I was working away on some bib orders. There are soo many little bundles arriving at the moment. Any way I checked my emails and I had a custom request from a lady in Cornwall for some of my eco facial pads she had been reading my blog about teachers gifts and had loved the idea of a handmade gift but just didn't have the time to make her own so next best to buy a handmade gift. Anyway here I am at 7am I have been up since 5.30 and now have her order complete and ready to post of this morning. Hope her teachers love them. Hello all I promised you an update on my new fabric options and I wanted to introduce scooters in a pale fresh blue. I just love blue and this has got to be one of my favourites. Mind you I say that about most of my fabrics. Again this bib would be great for a boy or a girl I know it can be difficult to choose a bib when you are not sure what the little bundle will be.
Scooters are the number one outdoor toy with my munchkins so the fabric seems right on trend I am sure I will be using it in many of my other goodies. What do you think of an art wallet?

Crafters and Makers Market.

Well yesterday I was at the Crafters and Makers Market. We were so lucky with the weather as it stayed mostly dry with a few spots of rain. I know we were inside but if its blowing a gale nobody wants to come out. The venue was bright and airy and well sign posted. We had gorgeous cakes, soup and sandwiches available to keep us crafters going. There was a steady flow of customers and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I had a lovely customer come to the market especially to by some goodies from me, I love it when that happens so flattering but also shows that word is spreading which is always a major problem for small start up businesses. So all in all a good day. Now apart from finishing up a major order and going to a playgroup. I am firmly getting me head down for the Royal highland show and the scone game fair. I have a massive amount of work to do.

Hello all. What a week its been and the weekend looks equally hectic. I have been inundated with orders for all sorts of goodies, from lunch bags to bibs to crayon rolls. It has been all go. In the middle of it all I have been starting to organise my end of term teachers gifts. I have a large pool of teachers to thanks, each and everyone of them have been wonderful I can't praise them enough.
I like to give handmade gifts its a way of appreciating the time they put into my children. I know most people do shop bought we are all so busy. But time is such a precious thing and teachers give so much.
So this years I have made a huge batch of tomato ketchup to start with. I have also been making some of my bamboo eco facial pads. I will keep you in the loop with other gifts I have been rustling up. With some pics if I have time.

Hello all, now don't cast me down I know its early and that the schools haven't even finished for holidays yet. But you know me I like to be organised and so I have started taking orders for school lunch bags. Order now and have in time for August. I have a couple of designs for you to choose from, each is suitable for a boy or girl and are soo gorgeous I know your nipper will love them. Each bag is made from 100% cotton ( that's right no artificial fibres, except for the velcro closure ) I wanted the bags to be breathable and totally washable as well. So over to you. I have a number of bags in mind and I have a full to bursting order book at the moments so once I have enough I will stop taking orders. Enjoy your lunch now mine is calling.

Good morning my lovelies, how was your weekend. Mine went in a bit of a blur but was great fun. Lots of playing and homework and cooking and sewing. You know my usual. Good morning all. I feel like my children are away on an school trip. All Butterflies. My new bandana style bamboo bibs are making there debut at the NEC Baby Show this weekend and I am anxiously waiting to see if they are doing well. So what have I been doing to calm my nerves? you know sewing of course and my new fabrics are very tempting so here's what I have been making. A playful puppy blanket made with 100% cotton top and backed with organic cotton and bamboo fleece totally cute of what? and as an extra I whipped up some little eco facial pads to match.

My latest fabric order arrived yesterday. I have been looking forward to it coming. So I couldn't wait to get cracking with it and with next weeks Crafters Makers Fair in Dundee to prep for I went for a couple of quilted crayon rolls. They are so gorgeous and fabulously practical as well. I just up loaded them on my etsy site and within a hour I was asked to make 23 of these cuties for birthday party favours, so much better than the usual plastic junk. Lucky guests I'd say. So more crayon rolls today I think. Happy Friday.

Soo Exciting My First Magazine Article !!!!!!!!

I have been keeping a secret for a long while. Since January actually Its a big one for me so excuse me gushing. I was approached at the turn of the year by Simple Homemade Magazine they wanted to do a little feature on up and coming handmade businesses. I leapt at the chance and today the magazine is out. I am soo excited. Lets hope I can generate a bit more interest in my eco friendly Bamboo products from it.

A New Sock Monkey Shirt

Good morning all. The summer party season is in full swing. My kids have several dates lined up over the next few weeks. So a new shirt was needed for my older boy. He choose the fabric himself and I did the rest. I have learned a lot from sewing this shirt and am quite pleased with the way it turned out. Not perfect by any means but not too bad. I hung the shirt up on the door handle of his cupboard while he was sleeping ( I finished it quite late) I was hoping he would get a little surprise when he got up and that I would be in his good books. However I heard nothing except lego being played with . I though maybe he hasn't seen it. So I ask did you see that Mummy has finished your shirt? Yes he said thank you. What is it with boys they just don't get the clothes thing at all. When I do the same thing for my girls I think people at the other side of town can hear them they get soo excited. However he has worn it several times and I did hear him tell his friend yes my Mummy made it. So maybe he's leaping about on the inside.

A Weekends Work. Sweet Divinity

What did you do this weekend. I have had a chock a block one. I have been baking up a storm making a birthday cake and a huge tray of mini birthday cakes to take into school. We have had friends round and had lots of fun over a birthday weekend. On a sewing front I have been busy too completing this gorgeous pinwheel quilt for a very special little girl. I have used lots of pinks and duck egg blues in it along with a hint of raspberry and moss green. I love it. I used an all over meander quilting pattern and hand stitched the stripe binding.
Since I love it so much I have made a duplicate to sell. It's available in my Etsy Store.

Momentrepreneurs Thursday Thoughts

I have noticed this term coming into common usage more and more often. It's a term I am comfortable with ( with Mummy instead of Mom for me) I have never liked to call myself a business person it seems a bit male. I think the addition of Mummy in there is so important for me. Being a Mummy is the most important and valuble thing I will ever do. But I also have a creative drive.
Being a full time mother and running a handmade business is soo much more demanding and challenging than I ever imagined. Late night,early mornings. Dreaming designs and never having a moment to just breath can take a toll. So why do I do it? Life would be so much easier if I had a part time job, got childcare and a part time cleaner. I would get regular wages, time away from the monkey's, payed holidays etc etc.
The answer is love. I love my children so much I love being a mummy even when it's tough. I want to be there in the bad moments as well as the good. I would never want to pass that on to anyone. Being a Mummy has made me a better person and has taught me much more than any career. My love for creating is just an extention of that. I created for my kids way before I started making and selling for others. My children inspire me, keep me moving forward and are the most honest critiques you could ever meet.
If it wasn't difficult everyone would be doing it, right?
so three cheers to all the Momentrepreneurs may the juggling continue.

Special Needs Bibs???????

Hi everyone. I have been busy sewing up some of my new style bamboo bandana bibs and it got me thinking about making larger versions for children with special needs. From a practical point of view I think they would work brilliantly and from a personal perspective I think my bibs would be more individual and fun than anything I have seen. So I am throwing the doors open to you. I am going to start making larger versions

NEC Baby Show First.

Hello all how are you? its been a roller coaster of a weekend for me. Lack of sleep as well as a super busy schedual and a few last minute orders was not a good mix I was exhausted last night completely and utterly. So I have been slowly getting into gear this morning. I am up to date with house work at the mo and have been sewing up a new line of bandana drool bibs. They are so cool and backed with my super absorbent patented bamboo with is wicking properties its sure to keep your little dribbler fresh.
I was planning on making an official launch at the Royal Highland Show but due to a certain fab business taking them down to the NEC for the baby show I couldn't hold back any longer. Here they are. As usual if you want some drop me an email.
